The story
In medieval Wallachia, Negru-Vodă dreams of building a grand monastery on the Argeș River. He enlists ten skilled craftsmen, led by Manole.
Despite their efforts, the walls they build by day collapse each night. Manole receives a dream revealing the need for a human sacrifice to make the monastery stand. The craftsmen are faced with a heartbreaking dilemma.
Manole insists on the sacrifice despite their pleas.Desperate, the craftsmen seek Negru-Vodă’s intervention to find another solution.
